Switch over to compact flourescent (CF) light bulbs, now suitable for home use and four times more efficient than normal incandescent light bulbs. CF bulbs can last up to ten times as long as standard bulbs and give off much less heat. Recessed fixtures are now made for LED bubls, which last more than ten times as long as incandescent recessed bulbs, while giving off less heat and using 75% less electricity than their incandescent counterparts.
