What Do You Think?

Saw this interesting apartment on Apartment Therapy and I’m still struggling to determine how I feel about it. On the one hand, I love the structure of the apartment and the murals; yet, I wonder if going dark was a big mistake. How would you have decorated this space? What are your interior design thoughts?

Stain-proof Kitchen Chair Fabric

Every chair must be covered in cleanable, stain proof fabric.  Here I used an outdoor fabric from Groundworks to keep dinner messes at a minimum.
Available through LeeJofa.com.

Everything in Its Place

A place for everything and everything in its place.  The blue tack board keeps important papers at reach and a built-in desk area for two is  great for mom and young students.  Note the glass pocket door into the family room- so mom can see but not necessarily hear the kids at play!

I stumbled upon this recently after looking through the great blog  Hooked on Houses.

With all the colors, the hardwood floors and the dark counter-tops, its a pretty great example of a slobproof home! For more on this Portland interior, check out the post.

Debbie Designs! A Family Friendly Home.

Time to choose some comfortable seating but with a dog, cat and baby in the house, it needs to be durable.  So I chose the Sharon Sectional from Slobproof! with Crypton to anchor the seating area (and a view to the TV) and added two Daisy Swivel Chairs.  For the chairs, I covered them in [...]
